CEEETA
is a private research centre on energy economics, transport
and environment, specialised in applied research, teaching
and consultancy in the areas of economics, energy, transport
and environment planning and policies inside and outside
the European Union.
In the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency,
CEEETA has been involved in the development and assessment
of a high number of projects for the integration of renewable
energy and energy efficiency technologies in buildings and
other facilities. CEEETA is currently supporting, with technical
expertise, the RES plan for Alqueva, promoted by EDIA, the
major stakeholder of the Alqueva project in the Alentejo
region.
Regarding legal framework, CEEETA is often involved, as
a consultant under the request of the Portuguese government
or as a major stakeholder, in the preparation of legislation
for the energy sector in the fields of RES incentives and
tariffs, cogeneration and micro-cogeneration. For example,
the last proposal regarding the legal framework for electricity
generation from RES was amended to incorporate several contributions
from CEEETA and RES companies before its adoption at the
beginning of 2005.
Regarding policy evaluation, CEEETA carried out recently,
for the Portuguese Directorate General for Energy, an evaluation
of the existing energy policy incentives. CEEETA also participated
in the INVERT project (DG TREN) aiming at developing efficient
support strategies for renewable energy sources and rational
use of energy.
Furthermore, CEEETA is currently coordinating and involved
in a project aiming at increasing the selective collection
of urban solid wastes in four municipalities (Cascais, Mafra,
Oeiras and Sintra). The main task is to analyze population
behaviour regarding waste management - using inquiries,
defining focus groups and local opinion makers - and to
enhance behaviour changes and awareness. The project also
includes an analysis of the potential introduction of a
fiscal measure in order to minimize waste generation.
CEEETA has a large experience with dissemination activities
(see list of projects) which includes the organisation of
workshops and conferences, production of publications and
CD-ROM, publication in newspapers and dissemination through
internet and was or is a member of several networks (OPET,
ENER...).
