
EC Baltic Renewable Energy Centre - the
centre employs 26 RTD workers, including bioenergy section
of 6 researches, supported by 3 system analysts. The Centre
is carrying out applied research for renewable energy sector
and also provides advice and technical support for the government
(Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment and Ministry
of Agriculture).
In 2002 ECBREC has been nominated by the European Commission
as Centre of Excellence and Competence in Renewable Energy
in Poland (RECEPOL). The Centre widely co-operates with
partner organisations in Poland, the European Union and
other countries. Till end of 2005 ECBREC is a part of the
Institute for Building, Mechanisation and Electrification
of Agriculture (IBMER), the RTD unit of the Ministry of
Agriculture. From 1st January 2006 ECBREC is transferred
to new mother institution CLN (Central Petroleum Laboratory)
and forming new institute under Ministry of Economy: Institute
for Fuels and Renewable Energy.
ECBREC has been the partner in several EU projects (5 FP-
VIEWLS, BIONORM, 6 FP- NoE Bioenergy, RENEW). Considerable
work has been done concerning renewable energy (especially
bioenergy) strategy in Poland and CEEC. ECBREC is coordinating
national research sub-networks: WIND and BIOENERGY within
national research network SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS. ECBREC
runs the general information services on RES subjects (technology,
promotion and dissemination, market introduction).
