Identification of priority villages

RESIREA methodology aims at targeting the villages that meet the conditions required for setting up sustainable decentralized rural electrification programmes.

Considering the electrification rate in Dak Nong province, the strategy developed in this phase of RESIREA consisted in identifying the households or groups of households that are neither connected to the grid, nor planned to be electrified by EVN within 2010.

To identify this targeted population, a workshop has been held in March 2008 in Gia Nghia town, gathering the RERD, the provincial authorities - Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Industry (DI) - and representatives of the 7 communes with the lowest electrification rate. The targeted communes are represented in the map below.

During the workshop, the commune representatives have provided information about villages within each targeted communes. This enabled the counterparts to identify in each commune households or groups of households that were not electrified, nor planned to be connected to EVN.

As a result, 1700 households scattered in 26 villages, have been identified as a priority for decentralized rural electrification.
These households, or groups of households are mainly scattered in the fields, far away from the village or commune center. Most of them are difficult to access. This situation explains why they cannot be electrified with EVN national grid. As a result, decentralized options, based on local renewable energy sources are very adapted to provide electricity to these targeted households.

These 26 villages have been ordered into a priority and validated by the provincial authorities: People’s Committee, DI and DOST. For more information, thanks to contact us.
